Otis Elevator – Advancing Smart Manufacturing in South Carolina

Three years ago, Otis Elevator Company opened its Florence, SC facility to OpExChange members, offering a firsthand look at a rapidly evolving operation. At that time, the team had already deployed 14 robots – reducing labor dependency, improving safety, and driving out errors – while laying the groundwork for a broader Industry 4.0 transformation.

Now, they’re ready to show what’s next. Otis will once again host OpExChange members for an inside look at the next phase of their automation journey.

Since the last visit, Otis has continued to build on its strong foundation of automation, lean practices, and workforce engagement. During this tour, attendees will experience:

• Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) supporting material flow and reducing non-value-added movement
• Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs) improving space utilization, inventory control, and picking efficiency
• A real-time monitoring system providing visibility into operations and enabling faster, data-driven decisions
